![]() ![]() Gigapixel AI is extremely detailed in the way that it can upscale an image. However, the superior upscale quality helps make up for that. ![]() It’s a desktop app so you don’t have the convenience of just dragging and dropping an image onto a webpage. If they did, it seems they would have done it, or be doing it. Gigapixel AI is a good runner up as one of the best AI image upscalers I’ve come across. ![]() ![]() TLDR: I'm not sure they have the skills or skilled personnel to take the actual enhancement models to the level they need to achieve good results. IMHO, this gives them wiggle room that lets them say they HAVE been working on "models", when in fact, they haven't been working on models that customers are actually interested in. They've also oddly altered the definition of "models" to include things like Chronos and Apollo, which are only used for frame interpolation, not actual enhancement of the video content. There hasn't even been any discussion of improving the models for a significant amount of time now, since the last statement that they would work on models at some point in the future, I assume when they consider the software to be stable (which at this pace will be never). Even the new features they've added like stabilization, literally do not work correctly in many situations. It appears that the current developers are more about tinkering with UI and adding features that don't actually do anything to "enhance" video. We know there has been significant turnover within the last 18 months. I’ve used ‘Gigapixel AI’ for up-scaling older Olympus micro-four-thirds images for selling them on stock. Practical uses include up-scaling for larger prints, enhancing cropped photos and rejuvenating your smaller sensor image library. I honestly believe that the employees of Topaz that were the driving force behind the models are now gone. Topaz ‘Gigapixel AI’ is a convenient and effective application to upscale your images. ![]()
